For us, sustainability is more than just a nice promise. It is part of the decisions we make every day – from selecting our materials and collaborating with our production partners to our design.
For our jewelry, we rely on, among other things, recycled precious metals, lab-grown gemstones, and carefully vetted sources. At the same time, we set clear requirements for human rights and fair working conditions for our direct production partners.
It is important to us that you understand what goes into our jewelry. That's why we don't just want to talk about "sustainable jewelry," but rather make transparent what we at fejn mean by it and how we verify our standards.
Because for us, good design and responsibility go hand in hand: timeless fine jewelry, consciously selected materials, and a manufacturing process where we pay close attention.
Recycled precious metals
We use recycled silver and gold for our jewelry. Our silver jewelry is made from recycled 925 sterling silver and is either kept silver-colored or gold-plated. For our solid gold pieces, we use recycled 9 or 14 carat gold.
By using recycled precious metals, we use existing material instead of relying exclusively on newly mined precious metals for our jewelry.
The mining of precious metals can be associated with social, human rights, and ecological risks. That is why we rely on recycled precious metals and verify our sources as part of our due diligence processes.
Lab grown diamonds
Sparkling, sparklier, diamond jewelry. Gemstones crown some of fejn jewelry's pieces and are an absolute eye-catcher. They delight young and old alike and are an indispensable part of women's jewelry.
For our diamond jewelry, we use lab-grown diamonds. They are created under controlled conditions in a laboratory – at fejn, using the so-called CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition) process.
This process technically replicates the natural formation process of a diamond. Lab-grown diamonds possess the same essential physical, chemical, and optical properties as mined diamonds.
For the lab-grown diamonds we use, we work with selected sources and documented supply chains.

Responsibly crafted in Thailand
Our jewelry is designed in our studio in Cologne. It is manufactured with selected production partners in Thailand, where jewelry craftsmanship has a long tradition.
When selecting and collaborating with our production partners, we examine social, human rights, and other requirements as part of our risk-based due diligence processes. Our founder, Dagmar Krämer, also regularly visits the production facilities in person.

Absolutely! Our silver jewelry is nickel-, lead-, and cadmium-free in accordance with EU guidelines and is therefore particularly well tolerated—even by those with sensitive skin or allergies.
